Rupit’s Hanging Bridge (Catalonia)
This is perhaps one of the most iconic views of Rupit. This hanging bridge was constructed in 1945 to connect the two parts of the village divided by Rupit’s Creek. But nowadays, it has become a tourist attraction for visitors to this picturesque medieval town.
In 1945, the city council did not have many resources, so the bridge was partially financed by Pere Rovira, a local blacksmith that was also the designer. His brother Francesc Rovira (also a blacksmith), the local builder Santi Vila, and the local innkeeper Quim Marsal were also involved in the construction of the bridge.
Walking across this suspension bridge is always an experience. If you want to try it for yourself, it is not far from Barcelona and it is a great option for a day trip.
The town is truly beautiful, with old stone houses from the 16th and 17th centuries, and magnificent views. The zone if full of picturesque routes, making it a perfect spot for those who enjoys activities like trekking, cycling, horse riding, etc.
