Summer at La Fageda d’en Jordà
I lost track about the many times that I visited or published photos from La Fageda d’en Jordà. I love this forest and I always find my way back to it. This new photo is from last August, it was my first time visiting the beech forest during summer; and it was like visiting a completely different place.
The night before was raining and I got surprised by vibrant greens tones and the dark mud on the ground. Quite a different landscape from my previous visits when the forest was always covered by a blanket of red leaves.
The place was quiet, and the silence was only broke by bird songs. I guess that not many people visit this forest till autumn, when the trees change their colors from green to yellow and red tones. In fact, this is going to happen again in the next weeks and I am already willing to visit it again.
La Fageda d’en Jordà is part of the La Garrotxa Volcanic Nature Park, in Catalonia. It is not far from Barcelona, and it is a perfect location for a day trip during fall. By the way, this year I’m planning to visit new forests around Catalonia; any suggestions?
