The Tanneries Neighborhood (Vic, Catalonia)

The Tanneries Neighborhood (“Les Adoberies” in Catalan) is located in the historical center of the city of Vic. It symbolizes both one of the most important periods of the Osona capital and the growth of the region’s tannery industry. There are documents related to tannery activity from the 12th century, and during the 14th century it became very popular in the area. However, it wasn’t until the 18th century that the Guild of Tanners decided to group all the activity and construct the actual Tanneries Neighborhood.
